MÖNSTER was formed in May 2004 by Alexandre (BORN DEAD ICONS, ex-THE BLACK HAND), Jobst (ex-PEACE OF MIND, ex-HIGHSCORE), Marek (INSUICIETY/drums, ex-DYSMORFOFOBIA/drums) and Matthias (ex-A THIN RED LINE, ex-COSTA..S CAKE HOUSE).
The band started as a project, but after realizing that such a good chemistry shouldn..t be blown off in the air, decision was made to take it out of the practice space. The first two concerts confirmed that the audience could also relate to this energy. In terms of sound, comparisons have been made to the modern Swedish-Crust-Portland sound with a good measure of rocking riffs and a classic straight forward hardcore feel.
The CD contains all their songs released so far only on 7inches + a previously unreleased bonus track!

Trip Inside was the first spanish band from outside Barcelona that BCore released. Their debut contained punk rock songs close to Jawbreaker and sung in spanish. From Zaragoza, the quartet had the chance to play with such bands as Victims family or Fugazi, being the main band from the Zaragoza area at the time.

It´s Casual has been performing since the late ´90s throughout Southern California. The summer of 2002 found the pair outside the state´s borders, as part of the Vans Warped Tour, promoting its debut, Buicregl. In 2004, It´s Casual took a couple days off (yes, literally a couple) to record its second album, Stop Listening To Bad Music. The album found Solis upping the ante on his straightforward delivery of life in the large city.
After returning home from a summer tour in 2006, It´s Casual entered the studio with producer Sergio J. Chavez for a third album session. The resulting ten-song collection, The New Los Angeles, finds the band more focused than ever, with its hard-hitting, riff-packed hardcore punk/metal delivery that rubs shoulders with the best of Black Flag, Fu Manchu, Motorhead and Bl´ast.

Love this record. A 7 inch split from 2 of the most fresh bands in D.I.Y. punk rock. End Of A Year come from Albany, NY (USA) and they deliver 2 new songs in the old good fashioned punk rock in the vein of Embrace, Rites Of Spring. You all know the sound. Caustic lyrics and a full musical hard-on on their side. 'Michael Ray Richardson' and the noisy 'Go To Hell, Dickhead' are the songs that appear on this record. Flip the side and flip yourself. My cousins from Adorno, the great young band from Lisbon, Portugal, on the other side. Vocal melodies ala At The Drive-In. Pounding bass lines. Amazing 2 emotional songs: 'Life. Love. Don't need regret' a wink to Unbroken and 'Theoretically Driven'. Not Theodor. Just Adorno.

Not much time has elapsed since the dissolution of politico/jokester old-school act Slumlords following two albums, but guitarist Dom Romeo already formed a new band, Pulling Teeth, which effectively fuses both eras of hardcore that influenced the Ontario-born guitarist. Shedding the happy-drunk vibe of Slumlords while retaining their brusque songwriting approach (Vicious Skin whizzes through ten songs in just over fourteen minutes), Pulling Teeth share more in common with the guitarist's first band, nineties' hardcore relics Day of Mourning, as the apocalyptic Holy Terror vibe is dependably brought to life once again.
While there is decidedly less death metal riffing and no gutturals (Day of Mourning could easily lay claim to being originators of the "deathcore" label long before the style became a favorite objective of A&R reps), Romeo manages to work in eighties' thrash solos and harmony leads in assorted places throughout the intro-opener "Weeds" and "Never Wrong," "Vicious Skin," "The Kids Are Not Alright," and "Sand and Cells," in much the same vein as Integrity and Ringworm did on albums like Humanity is the Devil, Systems Overload, and Birth is Pain.
Integrity frontman Dwid lends his murderous yell to "Weeds," adding further weight to the relevance of Vicious Skin, but it's not the first time he was a guest on Romeo's work. Day of Mourning's final and finest body of work, the 1999 EP Your Future's End, featured Dwid's guest vocals as well as those of Ringworm's Human Furnace. Adding to the incestuous links among the aforementioned, Romeo was Ringworm's second live guitarist when Frank 3 Gun joined Terror a couple of years back. And more recently, Dwid performed a complete Integrity set in Baltimore with Pulling Teeth his backing band; it suffices to say these guys are truer Integrity fans than your average kid wearing one of their posthumous Deathwish-designed shirts.
With Slayer one of the main influences of the Holy Terror sound, it comes as no surprise that a riff from their long body of work materializes in the verse of "Prepare for the Worst," accompanied by the appropriate degree of optimism on gravel-throated vocalist Mike Riley's part: "It's my belief that these are the end of days, we've taken things too far. We ignored the warning signs." Another Slayer lick, this time their trademarked two-step, is employed as a tension builder prior to the breakdown in "Bleeding to Death." As metal as Pulling Teeth may be coming across, the songs are short, dirty, and punk enough to merit comparison to bands like The Swarm, Haymaker, and Left For Dead. The creation of Vicious Skin may have been assisted by the old-school revival sweeping the hardcore scene, but it has strong ties to the nineties sound, which should ensure it isn't forgotten by next week.
Bottom Line: While a new band to the hardcore scene, Pulling Teeth has some old blood in its ranks, giving Vicious Skin lyrics that often take vengeful neo-political and youth empowerment stances against society and the state of the world. Even with the basic punk beats and short song lengths, there are enough metal riffs and licks reminiscent of the Holy Terror sound to please the aging and bitter twenty-somethings. The album could have used more songs, but with this good an execution of a style long played-out, Vicious Skin carries some respectable weight.

Abba aside, End Of All encompasses all the best parts of Scandinavian hardcore/metal. If you liked their first album “Same Shit But Different” you’re going to love this one. And for those of you who haven’t been graced by the auditory enlightenment that is End Of All, think Skitsystem meets Wolfbrigade/Wolfpack meets At The Gates. Every song on this album works on multiple levels. The first track “The Age of the Serpents” blew me away. It starts off with a dark and melodic acoustic intro, then explodes into a melodic Swedish death metal intro...

Lack is easily one of the more interesting indie rock acts out there right now. Going from clarity to clarity, I thought that "Be there pulse" (2005) was an excellent display of Fugazi-sounding hard-hitting rock, they now release a breathtaking album of furious and melodic punk-/indie rock. In fact, the Danes have found what I've been looking for in their previous albums; a delicate mix of hardcore and hooks. Not many bands accomplish that, At the Drive-In, Refused, Drive Like Jehu and Shellac did it, and here are the Danish heirs. Clocking in under an exemplary 30 minutes "Saturate every atom" offer its listeners a concise journey where Denmark's asylum policy, male domination, among others are matters of discussion and as an old hardcore dude, my eyes are filled with tears. It's been a long time since something this compassionate sounded this good. Produced by Per Cnöeldh (Menfolk), mixed by Lack in true DIY-style and mastered by none other than Bob Weston from Shellac, the simple, yet powerful sound gives the band justice. And speaking of justice, nothing would be more unfair if this doesn't lead to further recognition. It is that good. Try it, you'll like it!

Drew at Translation Loss seems to have a real ear for music. He was able to tie down the likes of Rosetta, Mouth of the Architect, Intronaut, and now Fight Amputation. Coming straight out of the New Jersey basement scene (though they sound more like they belong in Kentucky alongside the likes of Young Widows, Lords, Pusher, and Coliseum), Fight Amputation embodies the true spirit of punk rock, hardcore, and noise rock. On the album's opening jam, "Dead is Dead", the drum beat and subsequent guitar riff will fade you into this solid album.
“Dead is Dead” displays Fight Amp in all of their glory, their dingy, dirty, gritty glory. I’m somehow shocked that grit and fuzz doesn’t come flying out of my stereo when rocking this disc. It takes me back to my youth, back to the days of small venues full of thrashing noisy bands that are now shut down. That taken to heart, Hungry for Nothing is exactly what I’ve been looking for as of late, a genre destroying album that leaves nothing but devastation in its wake.
Interestingly enough, Fight Amp doesn’t seem to hit a dull patch on the album. Between the back and forth banter of noise rock and punk rock and the six and a half minute long stoner epic “Get High and Fuck”, the band built a dynamic sound that denies critics the ability to question their songwriting skills. Distorted bass lines, arbitrary guitar riffs, and punishing drums beats create the canvas that vocalist Pat splatters his compelling and vehement vocal style all over.
The grooves on this album are simply undeniable. Fight Amp has a knack for building a groove into a monumental work, just listen to “Late Bloomer” on the band’s myspace and you’ll see exactly what I mean. You will get sucked in by this album just like I did. With eight tracks clocking in at exactly thirty-two and a half minutes, Hungry for Nothing is exactly what this music world needs more of, a creative look at an old favorite.

Young and Restless were drawn together in Canberra in April 2005. Ask the five members of the band what magnetised them and somewhere in the sprawling explanation there’d inevitably be reference to noise and energy. Because noise and energy are central to everything about Young and Restless.
Guitarists Ash Pegram and Mark Falkland play with a hardcore intensity that struggles to be harnessed to the band’s blink and you’ll miss ‘em pop songs. Teenage bass player Ross Paxman makes it more than evident that he spent part of his youth growing up in Seattle and in tandem with drummer Nugie Utomo plays with a ferocity intent on waking the entire neighbourhood. And out front singer Karina Utomo effortlessly and unintentionally smashes every stereotype you may still be unconsciously clinging on to. This is a woman with something to say and a voice to say it with.
Now calling Melbourne home (except for Nugie who is still in Canberra for studies), Young and Restless were thrust into the spotlight late last year when they won Triple J's Unearthed competition, which resulted in them performing at Homebake in Sydney. Six months on and the band has been ripping up stages across the country with the likes of Erase Errata, Cansei De Ser Sexy and Love Is All.
Set for release mid-July, the album is completely self-funded and was recorded by Tom Larkin of Shihad, at his studio in Melbourne earlier this year. Despite several tracks having already sneakily, blasted out on radio (I Pointed At You and You Burst Into Flames, Satan, Dirty Kicks) the album will be the first official release for Young and Restless and Satan and Dirty Kicks have now been remade, remodelled and cranked for even more high energy action.
Vocal collaborators on the album include Peter Saladino (Brisk) and Tom Lyngcoln (The Nation Blue).
