Ha sido un placer poder ver de cerca el proceso de creación de este disco. Cuando me dijeron que iban a hacer un disco de versiones pensé que sería algo testimonial, al igual que cuando un grupo en un directo dice que va a tocar una versión y, como mucho, sólo toca la misma canción más rápido o más despacio.
Hacia octubre me pasaron los primeros temas, para escuchar y dar una opinión. Entonces, las canciones estaban cantadas en el idioma original. Recuerdo que me pasaban primero las canciones originales, para poder compararlas. La primera sensación fue de sorpresa. Aunque les he visto muchas veces en directo (mejor dicho, porque les he visto muchas veces en directo), lo que oí no fue lo que me esperaba del grupo.
Entonces no sabía si aquello era mejor o peor de lo que esperaba. De todas formas, lo que sí me quedó claro es que no hicieron las canciones más rápido o más lento, no se dedicaron sin más a llevar los temas a su terreno. Crearon canciones nuevas basándose en varias canciones ya hechas, las convirtieron en canciones de Eten.
No es facil en estos tiempos abordar el tema de la originalidad (ser original es otra cosa, y no, no son originales). Hasta hace unos años era suficiente con contar una historia, pero ahora da la sensación de que en cada nueva obra que se crea hay que poner en cuestión el arte, dejando a un lado el contar historias. En este caso, Eten nos da la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre la originalidad.
No nos han dado respuestas, pero tampoco preguntas. De hecho, escuchar el disco tambien debe de ser un trabajo de creación o, por lo menos, algo que hay que hacer con una actitud crítica. Cada cual debe crear sus preguntas, buscar sus respuestas.
No voy a hablar yo sobre la calidad de las letras. Intentamos hacer algo parecido a lo que hicieron con la música. “Tradujimos” las letras al euskera, pero no como lo haría un traductor de hoy en día, sino como los traductores franceses de antaño, como crearon aquellas “belles infidels”. Quien lea las letras originales y las “nuevas” verá los lazos que unen a ambas. Están unidas por lazos muy finos, pero sin esos lazos no existirían esas letras. Esto mismo se puede aplicar a todo el disco, claro.
Ahora tenemos la oportunidad de escuchar las canciones definitivas. Yo una cosa les agradezco. A parte de plantear (o repetir) ciertas preguntas sobre la música, han sido capaces de contar una historia. Cuando hablo de historia no me refiero a las letras, ya que un disco no necesita de letras para esconder una historia. Como para hacer frente taxman del copyright el disco no tiene créditos, puede ser que muchos no sepan ni que es un disco de versiones, no se harán las preguntas que se han hecho los miembros del grupo. Señal de que el disco sin esas preguntas tambien es capaz de contar una historia. Eso sí, quienes a parte de la historia de la superficie conozcan tambien la del fondo disfrutarán más.
Será un placer oirlo en el plato de casa a partir de ahora.

Después de Nunca giran durante el año 2000 y 2001 por toda la península ibérica y en el verano de 2001 viajan a México D.F. para realizar una serie de 7 conciertos en distintas zonas de la capital mexicana.
Durante esta gira Después de Nunca aparece en formato de dúo, trío o cuarteto, gracias a la colaboración alternante, a veces a la par, de Tim O’nellin y Dj Amsia en el manejo de los pregrabados y sus máquinas de ritmo, ruido y ambiente, y con la ayuda Joxe “El Paxarologo” en la mesa de sonido.
Durante esta gira también comparten escenario con otras bandas amigas: Akauzazte, Autoa, Dut y en México con San Pascualito Rey. Se producen hermosos encuentros con bandas como Doss, Viaje a 800 y Lisabö y no menos hermosos reencuentros con Nacho Laguna, Javier Almendral, Germán Sánchez (Día Diez) y Justo Bagüeste (I.P.D.).
Y ya tenemos aquí a los protagonistas de este cede, algo más que un disco de versiones, una nueva canción nace de cada canción, gracias a sus revisiones. Gracias también a los que finalmente no pudieron estar por una u otra razón, pues de ellos es también este disco, o así para nosotros.
Este disco no nació como un disco homenaje. Demasiado prematuro para una banda demasiado viva, con demasiado presente por delante, a pesar de su existencia solapada de silencios, de agujeros guadianescos.
Este es un disco armado a partir de una idea de Dj Amsia, en la que la lectura abierta de las canciones por parte de grupos a los que después de nunca considera colaboradores y amigos, es la que abre nuevos senderos por los que esta música que nació queriendo desdibujar fronteras emprenda nuevos viajes.
Y ahora que el pez volador remonta los vuelos en las alturas por donde le vimos llegar, también nuestros sueños se renuevan gracias a los viajes que hicimos siguiendo a tan singular criatura. Los horizontes de esta aventura abiertos de par en par gracias también, al trabajo gráfico de nuestro incansable colaborador Baxi Ubeda, el mago de las fotos que se mueven.

When I first saw the cover and read the band’s name on it I feared having to review yet another mediocre bullshit pseudo-emotional metalcore record. If I had read the record title, too, my fears would have vanished. The title is just awesome!
The band is actually just a duo of a drummer and a pianist who are both singing as well. However it took me a look at the info to realize this. With the help of a lot of effects like reverb and distortion they sound like a lot more at some points of the record. The band is working with strong dynamics and a lot of silent-loud-antagonisms. It is atmospherically dense and musically abstract. In some way it is the absolute realization of the slogan “reduce to the max!”.
I’d call it an ambitious trip hop-jazzcore-fusion. It’s all pretty artsy but it definitely has relevance and it’s cool to have some bands or projects keeping tearing down the walls between all these musical genres musicologists invented. If you are down with The Liars, Black Dice or John Zorn you should not let The Scarabeusdream pass by without taking notice.

Clouddead has a hard-to-classify sound; if you described it as "lo-fi ambient spoken word meets surreal hip-hop with an indie rock bent," you'd be leaving a lot out. The CD compiles previously released 10-inches created by producer Odd Nosdam and MCs Dose One and Why?--all members of Anticon, the West Coast hip-hop collective. The MCs rap, recite, and sing words that make Beck's lyrics sound tame and fussy by comparison. Their declamation can be goofy, swaggering, funny, swinging, nasal--you name it. This extremely open-ended and varied use of language recalls the work of the sonically inclined poet Edwin Torres. Sometimes the language on this disc can be almost inaudible; then it's just another element in Nosdam's lovely and murky music. Albums this odd often confuse people. Also, like this one, they can be extremely compelling.

Antigua & Barbuda nace en el 2005 en Pamplona tras la disolución del grupo predecesor QWER. Dicho grupo estaba formado por, Germen, Guiller1000 y Riziruelo (que formaron posteriormente A&B), y Dani completaba la formación (exvocalista de Doubtful y Dead Means Nothing) quienes grabaron un EP llamado “Ombligo Chronicles”. Posteriormente Apeto (guitarrista vocalista de Doubtful) sustituyó a Dani y dieron varios conciertos, San Sebastian (Unicono Fest), Torrrelavega (Takio Fest)… Tras la huida de Apeto deciden cambiar el nombre y realizar música más experimental y original. En abril del 2007 deciden dar forma al primer EP con 4 temas grabados en directo en Montreal Studios (gracias Hans) y mezclamos con Santi García, dando lugar La pirámide Invertida (2008).

Sometimes music just needs to be experimental, challenging, chaotic and yet at the same time beautiful and pure. Coventry’s Sika Redem are all of this – and some. Zener surge en el año 2002 como banda instrumental de improvisación, jugueteando con el ruido, los espacios sonoros, la armonia, los desarrollos psicodelicos y el delirio. Sin barreras estilisticas ni reglas establecidas, la música de Zener sugiere muchos estados conscientes, reales o ficticios, calmados o desquiciantes....., inconformista musica rock, instrumental y experimental.
El nuevo disco disco fue grabado el pasado abril en directo en 1 día por Pablo Peiró en los estudios Tabalet de Valencia. Pablo se ha encargado también de la mezcla y John Golden (Sonic Youth, Shipping News, Neurosis, Trans Am, Tarentel...) se ha encargado de la masterización.

Mentat surge como proyecto musical a mediados de 1998.
En principio, el grupo está formado por Marc Celma (batería), Pablo Peiró (guitarra), Javier Vivó (guitarra) y Quique Martinez (bajo). Durante los años 1999 y 2000 se incorporan Daniel Roig (visuales), Fernando Vilella (oboe), Nicolás Sola (trombón de varas), Lucas Puig (bombardino) y Antonio Arnau (percusión). A principios de 2001, Jordi Torres (guitarra) y, poco más tarde, Pau Ferrando (viola).
En julio de este año grabamos nuestra primera maqueta con Oscar y Santi, miembros de Zanussi, en su local de ensayos de Benimaclet.
Poco después de nuestro último concierto en esta etapa, a Quique se le diagnostica un problema de salud y comienza la terapia. A pesar de ser intervenido, nos deja el 25 de marzo de 2004, y en julio de este mismo año comienza la grabación de las canciones IV y V, que pretende dejar constancia de su riquísima aportación musical a la banda.
Tras un período de reflexión sobre la posible continuidad o la disolución del proyecto, decidimos finalmente seguir hacia delante y Pablo se convierte en nuestro actual bajista.
En 2005, Olga González se une a nosotros durante algunos meses para ayudarnos con la electrónica.
En abril de 2006, presentamos nuestro primer Ep (homónimo) .
En julio de 2007 Producciones Tranquilo Música incluye nuestra canción "Vestigios de una derrota" en el recopilatorio "Mundo submarino: veinte nuevas bandas valencianas", y en octubre de este mismo año acabamos de editar nuestro segundo trabajo de estudio ,"Inerte" (ep), con el sello independiente Parade Records (Barcelona).
Actualmente el grupo está formado por Pablo Peiró (bajo, voces y electrónica), Marc Celma (batería, piano y samples), Javier Vivó (guitarra y voces) y Daniel Roig (proyecciones visuales). En estos momentos estamos preparando nuevas canciones, conciertos y próximas grabaciones.
Desde estas líneas agradecemos el trabajo y el esfuerzo de todas las personas que han formado parte de la banda o que han colaborado con nosotros de alguna manera. GRACIAS.

Llevan seis años tocando y cinco discos a cuestas. Tienen una capacidad de reinventarse que asombra y conservan un estilo para tocar que pocos han logrado desde que partió el 2000, a tal punto de no poder definirlos ni ser predecidos. Este año después de "Coma" lanzan un trabajo mucho más fuerte que el anterior y con más autoridad para desenfrenar los sintetizadores, consolidar la agrupación con una excelente batería y dejar bien posicionado el nombre de diAblo con un "Seiseiseis".
Pero eso no es suficiente para que este disco lance llamas desde los mismos infiernos, sino también mantener algunos patrones presentes en su anterior discografía. Los tracks que sobrepasan los siete minutos, ese post rock oscuro y la oscilación de no saber cómo terminarán los temas con sus drásticos cambios hacen que este trabajo siga con la misma identidad que en un principio. Algo así como el efecto Lynch, donde todo comienza con un día de sol y luego de la normalidad de una escena se pasa a una incertidumbre que te lleva hasta la sensación pura del miedo.
diAblo también trabaja con eso y provoca al seguir su pauta marcada de orden en los tiempos, pero a su vez demostrando un caos en los sintetizadores que no son fáciles de digerir para todos los oídos.
Dentro de los seis temas escuchamos programaciones y muchos cambios rítmicos que se soportan en la batería, la guitarra que a veces comienza lenta y luego pasa a rasgueos rápidos y el bajo a pulso que marca quiebres. En "Ataque Carpeano" se escuchan los galopes de un caballo, las marimbas y un saxo desenfrenado que dejan un buen sello. En otros Ervo Pérez toma el control de la voz aportando el lado más crudo con sus gritos “escucho voces / sudan las manos / tiembla el cuerpo / veo gusanos / veo serpientes alucinando” cuando comienza "Belleza mi ser". "Cruz de Carroña" en medio de la calma surge también este lado más pesado y denso de diAblo con duros coros y frases que escupen rabia con “esta es la fiesta hereje de mi gente”.
El grupo y en particular este disco no es de muchas repasadas, simplemente lo entendiste o no lo pescaste y sus estados musicales hay que tomarlos como un todo y no como si fuesen varias canciones en una. Lo mismo pasa en las presentaciones; caíste en una especie de “trance” y dejaste que tu cabeza se manifestara o no aguantaste más y te paraste del asiento. Una provocación que la actual formación integrada por Ervo Pérez (sampler y voz), Cristian Sánchez (Micro Korg), Gonzalo Gutiérrez (batería), Daniel Llermaly (bajo) y Antonio Aldunate (guitarra) está consciente y no pretende cambiar.
Hay mucha fé en el trabajo que hacen, porque los que se deleitan con este quinteto confían que el grupo no irá en descenso, sino por el contrario seguirán manteniendo un sello que los identifica en relación a otras bandas y se los reconoce por la creatividad al momento de hacer un tema hipnótico y bien calculado.
Quizás a algún físico, matemático o científico loco podría caerle bien "Seiseiseis".

This one's easy: if you liked Vasaraasia, you'll like Käärmelautakunta. The overall method hasn't changed from the debut album to this, the sophomore effort - the music here is a melting pot of "ethnic" melodies played on mostly non-rock instrumentation (as before, cellos, trumpets, and saxes tend to dominate, with lots of pump organ in the background) in a rock context. But where Vasaraasia tended to flit between fast, jittery, up-tempo pieces and extremely dark and brooding ones, this one generally occupies a middle ground more often. Much of the album is still distinctly moody, with few tracks that are as upbeat as, say, "Mamelukki and Musta Leski" from the debut, but they don't tend to get as droney or depressing as some of the pieces from the earlier album.
The last two tracks break away from this sort of mid-tempo, mid-mood theme, with "Lentävä Mato" being the most upbeat and energetic piece on the album and "Jää, Hyvä Mieli" the hardest-rocking. The latter especially is quite a departure, consisting almost entirely of an extremely slow, inexorably plodding heavy-metal riff (on cello, of course) overlaid by meandering pump organ and sax. Doom metal meets Eastern European folk: it's quite an experience... and it works.
Aside from the above, it's tough to describe this album either in terms of its predecessor or on absolute terms. The moniker "ethnic brass punk" that the band trumpets on their website still seems to hold, but Käärmelautakunta doesn't seem quite as fresh in that sense as the debut, probably simply because it's really more of the same. In this case, though, I'm not complaining — this is really great, top-notch stuff, and though it doesn't break new ground as compared to Vasaraasia, I think it's more consistenly enjoyable as a whole, and it has become my favorite of two albums. And where else do you get to hear a dual-cello attack that really rocks?

Some years ago, naming your new band after a famous football team seemingly was fun in Belgium. Now, us Belgians are hooked up with bands like Arsenal, Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea and Galatasaray. The striking thing about the latter is that they're 12, audibly well-trained and in my humble opinion… just better than the rest.
Boxing Camp For Blues Oriented Snack Heads is the first release for Vlas Vegas records and the second album for Galatasaray, after 2003's Montana. Both Vlas Vegas and Galatasaray are based in Kortrijk, Belgium. The band's 12 members are spread throughout the alternative music scene of that city and include people of bands like Hitch, Hawai, Think Of One, Gèsman and Ozark Henry.
Boxing Camp For Blues Oriented Snack Heads is still instrumental, but sounds a lot more steady and rocking than Montana. Whereas the first album clearly had the emphasis on the trumpets, trombones, clarinets and saxophones, the new full-length is more diverse and leaves additional space for firm guitar riffing and a solid rhythm section. It introduces us to the darker and heavier side of the band and will probably appeal more to the rock fans than before. Some interesting guitar breaks and twists, the intro for Life Is Like A Constant Winter, or Snack Heads On Empty Part II could come right off a Hitch album.
The song What Do You See When You Sleep?, in the middle of the album, kind of breaks with the tempo and atmosphere created so far, and its rest is welcomed. Then again, the distortion and (de)structure on a song like Spoons Are OK, gets us focused again. That song is one of the highlights of the album if you ask me. It perfectly integrates the diverse instrumentation of the band in an interesting song with some jazzy hooks.
Boxing Camp For Blues Oriented Snack Heads is an album that constantly switches between genres and ideas. Because of that some songs might water down for a moment, but it never takes long before the band returns to the core of every song, eventually even throwing in a dancy brass sound. This is a solid new release from a seemingly restless band that courageously thinks beyond genres. Make sure to catch this friendly gang live!

Born in the year 2000, forceed goes on with exploring cold sounds and demoniac rythms. At the start the goal is to play music during hours as heavy as possible. In the year 2002 the band record an EP with 7-strings guitars and double pedal, the average of the band is around the age of 16. The disc has the opportunity to be assumed by Division Records, the swiss hardcore label of Unfold, Zatokrev, Vancouver, Shovel, impure Wilhelmina, Ordeal, and after a few shows in Switzerland the band records an album, in 2003, called "idyl of estreya". After these two records, the guys from north lost Switzerland plays with the same obstinacy for heavy and aggressive music. The result of this period is going to be available as a new album for the end of 2006.

Cyril Blandino called it quits with Superstatic Revolution back in 2001and remained on the US ground with the will to form a band capable of quenching his thirst to 'do something more personal' in music and to receive his talentuous guitar work. After jumping from bands to bands he finally joined the Cleveland-based band And Say We Did in 2004. While he took the bass duties in Superstatic Revolution, he is back as guitar player in this new project this new position will give him the room that he always looked forward to compose himself surrounded by musicians always breaking boundaries. The Cleveland rock clubs' walls won't never forget the sweat and big audience gathered each time the band plays. 'Final demonstration' saw the light of day in the summer of 2005. It is composed of instrumental tracks, very rock-oriented and developing structures following each other, crossing each other, with no frequent turning back to riffs. In some ways, this is the compilation of all titles the band ever created before they disbanded marking this way the end of a period meanwhile it is the starting point to a new one because both Cyril and Billy (bass) remained together to start Endagenda with the help of a new drummer. Endagenda is a brand new creature emerging from both major heads and capable of welcoming their experimentations.

Noise is a funny term. Not "ha ha" funny, but highly prone to linguistic slippage: its connotations cover everything from the stylized squawk of Lightning Bolt to the Pacific Rim blasts of Incapacitants or Masonna. The mutant term “noisecore” has been beaten virtually beyond recognition, referring to everything from the nitroglycerin airbursts of World and Final Exit to the unrelated sonics of Isis and The Dillinger Escape Plan. To some, such descriptive terms might seem to have outlived their usefulness; it's apparently so difficult to articulate a generic theory of noise that it often only confuses, much like the word “fascism.”
But it's almost impossible to discuss Geisha without talking about noise. Make no mistake; Geisha is a rock band, with a bracing, headfirst aesthetic worthy of The Melvins or The Jesus Lizard at their most unglued and time distorting. But their sound wears thick, anesthetic distortion like a cloak, embracing both the rock impulse and the raw sensory pleasure of hissing, apocalyptic distortion with a fervor that rivals Unsane. That said, Geisha are also much more than mere revivalists smitten with the gun-toting golden age of AmRep - their music conveys a breed of eerie, forlorn elegance all its own.
Unlike many would-be noisemongers, Geisha have an actual sense of dynamics. Mondo Dell'Orrore isn't just a monochromatic fuzztone blast, as the band frequently swirls in brushstrokes of clean/ dirty guitar melodies that almost conjure up Mogwai at their best (read: circa Young Team). Between the chokehold of “(SevenSevenSeven)” and the mournful, oceanic grandeur of “Love Theme from Reich Here, Reich Now” (song titles in the cutesy vein of clever, without going overboard), Geisha demonstrates a full range of expression - something often lacking in bands that stitch together their rock transubstantiation with static cling. They deftly temper beauty with terror, and the album evokes this balancing act in its epilogue: gorgeous, echoing piano overlaid with a forthright confession from a serial murderer. It's unusual to see a band operating such familiar instruments - guitars, distortion pedals, amps that we can easily imagine belching choking, black smoke -with this level of innovative expertise.
Both rock music and noise have seen much abuse at the hands of pretenders to their respective thrones. This is why Geisha so deserves recognition and awe: they intuitively grasp the basic properties of each aesthetic and wield them with simultaneous mastery, like a doctor simultaneously performing open-heart surgery and cloning a Komodo Dragon, but doing it so fast that it all blends into one big, scaly, blood-soaked revelation. Geisha are a rare bird; ignore them at your peril.

If Black Flag and Ministry and The Melvins had never existed and, furthermore, if it suddenly became attractive to make plangent, impossibly repetitive music with virtually incomprehensible lyrics/vocals, then (and only then) would Die Princess Die be embraced by the punk zeitgeist as brilliant or tolerable.
But if you can skip through their initial freakouts and make it to the grinding orgasm of “The Racer” and similar whirling punkcore epics, then you will find that Lions Eat Lions is not all that different from the groundbreaking punk classics you devoured in the early-80’s when it was far less trendy to whine, wail, spit and convulse than it is today. The glittery bestiality-tinged cover art is a nice bonus as well.

The Flamingo Massacres were a postpunk / indiepunk band that existed from 1997 to 2002 and consisted of Lari W. (bass guitar), Micha K. (drums, vocals) and me, eve massacre (bass guitar, vocals). I spend some really great challenging and intense years with those two ladies, and all the people and other bands we've gotten to know on our extensive touring. We released a demo, two 7"s, a cd ep, an album and some songs on several compilations.

9 temas, a cual de todos mejor. Y bueno, ¿qué tiene de especial esta banda? Muchas cosas, son dos bajos y batería, sin guitarras. Su música es una mezcla entre riot punk y post hardcore, muy original y amena de escuchar. Cantan dos de ellas, con dos voces bastante distintas, una muy potente y con personalidad, metiendo agudos e impresionantes gritos en algunas canciones, y otra muy melódica y armoniosa. Alternan partes rápidas y animadas con otras lentas, hacen continuos cambios de sonar limpio a sonar con distorsión y claramente, el ser dos bajos y ninguna guitarra les da un sonido peculiar
