Their "demo" cd hit me by surprise and I really couldn't refuse to put this out! These folks come from Gothenburg in lovely Sweden and deliver the goods! The demo (minus 1 song though) that you'll find on this black piece of vinyl hold 4 times thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness every now and then. If you've ever wanted to know exactly how your favourite metal, crust, and doom bands would have sounded like if they were one band this is where you should turn. I won't namedrop anything, just ask you to take me on my word that you really need to check this out if you've been even the slightest intrigued with what's written above. Even though I could drop many influential names, as well as list several of your favourite Swedish crustcore bands in the "members of" department. First 1100 copies comes in a nicely done gatefold.

This is weird stuff. Lots of dissonance and chaotic chord progressions mixed with tremolo picking and stuttered rhythms, some great melodic runs, and a fairly technical approach (without getting too far out there). One minute it sounds like grinding chaotic metalcore, then it goes into some death metal riffing, a little melodic Swedish kick, brief hints at a little bit of sludge, and "Stratego" even has some clean guitars that almost have a flamenco sort of sound going on!? Plus the vocals range from high screams to straight shouting, some low growls, singing, etc. There's definitely a lot going on. I will say that I prefer more tangible tracks like "I Dare the Sky" that effectively mix all of their styles with smooth transitions to some of the more caustic and all over the place material, but it's still obvious that this band is onto something. Sadly the recording doesn't do them justice. It actually sounds pretty good, but it's way, way too thin. The guitars are somewhat abrasive, though still heavy, but as soon as the guitars and scathing vocals kick in full blast, the drums lose some of their density and the bass pretty much disappears. And that's a shame, because these cats have a lot going on rhythmically that not only needs to be heard, but it needs to be in place to hold down the backbone of most of these songs. About halfway through the record my ears complete adjusting to the tones, but they definitely need a more beneficial mix. Less treble on the guitars, more volume on the bass... that's a start. But it's clear, they are on the right track. The layout is pretty interesting. I like the fact that you can't gauge what the music sounds like at all by the way the packaging looks. There are some nice illustrations of bears (I guess), some of which have extended necks like giraffes, and the inside of the booklet is set up like a 10-day journal (complete with entries rather than the actual lyrics), using worn paper textures and a font that sort of looks like handwriting (using actual handwriting on worn paper would have been far cooler, but whatever). "Day 8: The woods came alive... all eyes and teeth. Most of my crew is dead. I am in a cave and I hope someone finds this someday. The stars that I used to count are now the millions of eyes that haunt my sleep and I am jealous of the dead men. I found enough timber to keep whatever it is at bay with fire." This is definitely a curious record. I'd like it better if the mix was kinder to the incredible rhythm section, but it's kind of hard on the ears right now, and the writing needs to be a bit more cohesive.

Abba aside, End Of All encompasses all the best parts of Scandinavian hardcore/metal. If you liked their first album “Same Shit But Different” you’re going to love this one. And for those of you who haven’t been graced by the auditory enlightenment that is End Of All, think Skitsystem meets Wolfbrigade/Wolfpack meets At The Gates. Every song on this album works on multiple levels. The first track “The Age of the Serpents” blew me away. It starts off with a dark and melodic acoustic intro, then explodes into a melodic Swedish death metal intro...
This is strange stuff. Though I hear hints of the hardcore-apocalypse style of Bloodlet and elements of Neurosis, especially with the chosen acoustic style, Forced to Decay can, to some extent, be termed "death metal". They owe nothing to the Floridian take on the style, being totally devoid of bass heavy production or relentless kick-drumming, but do hark back to those of a more death/grind persuasion. Vocals alternate between very harsh screaming and quite melodic singing of sorts. When you listen carefully and "explore" _Perkussive Perlokution_, it is pretty interesting. The use of dynamics is commendable, though not unique, and the overall feel the album emanates is one of discomfort, which seems likely to have been one of the aims. Ultimately, my problem is that it doesn't strike the right balance with me. If the band achieved what they were trying to, then I have insufficient interest in their chosen style of music. Forced to Decay seem to have put quite a bit of effort into this with some success, and that is always commendable.

There are many stories behind Dawn of the Maya, many bands, concerts and experience in years over the scene. Behind each one there is a name, a band related with metal and hxc (Ubi Sunt?, Insomnia, Dkuajo) but now, united under the same name present this new band, kept like a secret in the Noain´s locals since november 2006. Faster than the jaguar of the chiapanec jungle, harder than the stone of the milenary pyramids, agressive like rituals in the name of Maya´s god Kukulkán, Dawn of the Maya play metalcore loaded by emotion and fury. They pick up sunshine´s baton of this mysterious culture, almost 5000 years after the beggining. "The feathered snake will come back to earth to make justice between the human race". The prophecy still alive...

The whole idea behind Splitter was founded around christmas in 2003 by Thimmy, Fredrik and Oskar. It all started like a joke, a lot of talk but no action. After some time they decided to make it happen and to give it 100%. The songwriting, especially the writing of lyrics was exceeding in early springtime 2004. A bunch of songs were composed and the bassplayer Thomas became a fulltime member. Now it was time to promote Splitter. Make ourselves heard in all possible ways such as MP3s, live performances, magazines and so on. Splitter chose seven songs and entered a studio in Hässelby in late spring 2004 with Kristian Niemann from Therion as producer.
The result was outstanding! Splitter made three live performances before the last piece was put to the puzzle, a second guitarplayer, - Niklas - Later, Thomas left the band and a new member - Mattias - joined Splitter for a couple of gigs. Even Mattias left the band with a short story behind. Finally, - Fredrik -, a ripping bassplayer from Uppsala became the fulltime bassplayer in Splitter.

These guys always impressed me. They were technical, but brutal as well. When SPAZZ played with them in Buffalo I asked them if they wanted to do a CD. It took awhile to get everything together, but it finally happened. The CD contains an LP length of new material, plus the two old splits. Everything they ever did up to that point. Fans of ASSUCK and DISCORDANCE AXIS will love these guys.

For the highly-awaited follow-up to 2005's "Struggle" Poostew headed to 3rd A Studio in Hamburg with Jens Ballaschke on the producing helm where Germany's steamroller finally received the punishing sound it deserves. They've increased the speed again and deliver 14 high explosive deathgrind tracks. Their debut "Struggle" convulsed the extreme music scene with the stunning mixture of no-compromise grindcore, well-placed melodies and the hardcore approach but "Plutocracy" will just destroy everything on its way.

The band was founded in 1998 and have a bunch of releases out (7", 12", CD, splits, cassette...) in the d.i.y underground on various labels. (Release the bats, Bridge, Insect, Crucificados, Fuckedupsunday, Dempe...)
Since the very beginning back in 1998 THE JAMSESSION has been on a neverending quest for doing our own thing, which has lead us on strange paths in heavy and xperimental music.Going thru the whole catalogue of releases you'll find everything from insane hardcore, progressive punk and doomy dark metal. It was never our goal to make it as strange as possible, it´s just our way to deal with the smalltown boredom and the result of 5 different individuals trying to express themself as one unit. Our latest recordings is by far our darkest, yet still progressive an intense. At the time it seems like we're walking down the dark and harsh road (having the new non-recorded songs in mind).

Clash of the grind Titans! Eleven short and angry blasts with a playtime around the eleven minutes mark make clear that Poostew and JaKa offer what they can do best - brutal grindcore with a death metallic edge and a hardcore touch. This split record can't be unheard and unites two of the finest German grinders on one CD
