INFO
Unrelenting! Explosively powerful creative thrash marked with tough metallic breakdowns, floor- punching chunka-chunka, and raucous female vocals. Speeding hardcore filled with abrasive twists and turns, violent vocal trade offs and dark and thoughtful lyrics. SCROTUM GRINDER is composed of members of the bands HANKSHAW (though they sounds nothing alike), FAILURE FACE, along with Steve Kosiba, who was in Misery Index-era ASSUCK and lead vocalist, Michelle who is a punk rock crowd-leaping terror and later sang in MOMENTO MORI! By no means a repeat of past bands or sounds, this tears with inventiveness and imagination while still keeping even keel with a destructive hardcore path, an apocalyptic dark ride with lyrical hope and inspiration as a guide... and yes, Prank knows the band name is terrible!

AUTUMN DELAY started out March 2004. Their debut recordings resulted in a split cd with “The Black Heart Rebellion” on Offerandum records and received some very positive reviews. They played non-stop all over Belgium and played tours in Spain, France, Suisse and the United Kingdom. Just recently, AD recorded a 4 track EP. It consists of 4 new songs that demonstrate a full-grown and matured band. A band who recorded an honest EP, trying to represent their powerful live reputation. And above all a band that refuses to be yet another copy of whatever’s doing good at the time.

It´s Casual has been performing since the late ´90s throughout Southern California. The summer of 2002 found the pair outside the state´s borders, as part of the Vans Warped Tour, promoting its debut, Buicregl. In 2004, It´s Casual took a couple days off (yes, literally a couple) to record its second album, Stop Listening To Bad Music. The album found Solis upping the ante on his straightforward delivery of life in the large city.
After returning home from a summer tour in 2006, It´s Casual entered the studio with producer Sergio J. Chavez for a third album session. The resulting ten-song collection, The New Los Angeles, finds the band more focused than ever, with its hard-hitting, riff-packed hardcore punk/metal delivery that rubs shoulders with the best of Black Flag, Fu Manchu, Motorhead and Bl´ast.

I believe "In the Event of a Blackout" is the first recorded output from Cathedrals, and what an awesome little demo this is. 11 tracks, 13-and-a-half minutes, and that's all she wrote. But, whew, their combination of crushing heaviness and burly His Hero is Gone dissonance with energetic bursts of hyperactive and lightly melodic hardcore makes for a memorable listen that definitely leaves you wanting more. The contrast of such explosive bursts of tactful speed and such a dark, dismal midpaced crunch may seem somewhat odd, but believe me it works (as you'll hear below), and I'm pretty god damn surprised that these cats haven't been scooped up by a label yet. This disc is so damn short I really don't even know what else to say here. This is intense, powerful, open-minded, creative hardcore… and I'm damn sure all for it.

They've only been together for a year and a half, but the Burlington, Vermont band Romans is moving fast. Their debut album is only 23 minutes long, and they cram a lot into those 12 songs.
When All Those Wrists kicked off, I was afraid it was going to be another generic metalcore CD. There are some of those elements, but fortunately Romans is much more than that. In addition to standard metalcore, they also have songs that are heavy and sludgy, and even a track or two that's spacey and progressive.
Romans has all the pieces in place. They are a really new band, and All Those Wrists has bursts of good songwriting and originality. They just need to focus more on the things that make them different from the average metalcore band, and write songs that are a little catchier and more memorable. They are off to a good start, and I look forward to hearing them progress.

Love this record. A 7 inch split from 2 of the most fresh bands in D.I.Y. punk rock. End Of A Year come from Albany, NY (USA) and they deliver 2 new songs in the old good fashioned punk rock in the vein of Embrace, Rites Of Spring. You all know the sound. Caustic lyrics and a full musical hard-on on their side. 'Michael Ray Richardson' and the noisy 'Go To Hell, Dickhead' are the songs that appear on this record. Flip the side and flip yourself. My cousins from Adorno, the great young band from Lisbon, Portugal, on the other side. Vocal melodies ala At The Drive-In. Pounding bass lines. Amazing 2 emotional songs: 'Life. Love. Don't need regret' a wink to Unbroken and 'Theoretically Driven'. Not Theodor. Just Adorno.

Sometimes you receive a mail from an unknown band with the question if you want to review their album. Rarer is the fact that it’s a French band with French lyrics, a biography in French and the only Ampools related stuff I can find on the internet is in the French language besides a small portion of English on their Myspace.
At school I didn’t succeed very well with French so this review is mostly about the music. The professional sound of Ampools can be categorized in the emorock direction but they combine it with hectic outbursts not unlike At The Drive-In, Refused or even some Botch parts. They succeed quite well because all the songs still have the natural flow and stuck in your head.
Point of discussion is vocalist Antoine Richard. His hysterical way of screaming is something you get used to because after two listener sessions it feels natural and definitely fits in Ampools’ songs so it was a wise decision to put him in front of the Alan Douches’mix.
A professional step for a French band: to go to Alan Douches and when you see the planned gigs on Myspace you know that we're dealing with a band that wants to make huge steps forward. That’s the reason I don’t understand why a press sheet in French language is sent to a foreign webzine. The lyrics and text in the booklet are also in French, a cocky decision but also a strange one if you want to go for European success.
The label asked for only four stars but due to the remarks above I only can go to three and a half. Asice

Say you stumble into a biker bar somewhere near Macon, Ga., and the air is so thick with smoke you can barely make out the figures performing onstage. You order a pitcher of whatever’s on tap and try to determine who the hell is absolutely destroying the room with monster jams. Judging by the powerful screams, the group could easily be fronted by either Dr. Teeth (with The Electric Mayhem—look it up) or Bobcat Goldthwait on mescaline. Turns out it’s God’s Revolver, an honest-to-goodness Southern-blues-metal band out of ... Provo? Well, Happy Valley can be a font for rage on the verge. Good news for Utahns who needn’t travel far to get their asses kicked.
