Info

Sometimes a battle with yourself can lead to a battle of sound. Del Cielo, an alternative rock band from Maryland, recently put out a new CD, Us Vs. Them. Interestingly enough, the sound is more of a clash among themselves. Songs like "Too Scared" and "Cry Your Eyes Out" have a hard edge sound accompanied by the beautiful voices of Andrea Lisi and Basla Andolsun, two of the three members of this female band. Hard at times and heart felt at others, most songs carry a basic theme of anger and frustration.

"Too Scared," the first song on their CD, is an example of expertly played instruments with an amazing sound worthy of regular radio rotation. The strong bass mixed with solid vocals makes it a song you'll definitely want to rock out to. Katy Otto, the drummer, also holds the songs together with awesome beats, adding to the magnificent melody these ladies have produced.

The music is strong, if only the lyrics were to match. Lyrics seemed to lack in substance and depth. The voices, although beautiful, also could be stronger in points. That said, this band is still amazingly gifted. This album is great for anyone who likes mainstream rock and exquisite female voices.
